Gray S. Graves, CA

Gray graduated from the University of Calgary in 1974 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree. He commenced his articles with a national accounting firm in 1974 before joining Buchanan Barry LLP in 1977. Gray, who qualified as a chartered accountant in 1978, joined Buchanan Barry LLP’s Leadership Group as Partner in 1989 and served as Managing Partner from 2008 to 2012. Gray is responsible for providing audit and assurance, accounting, tax and advisory services to wide variety of clients. Gray has extensive experience with non-profit organizations and manufacturers.

W. Martin Barry, CA

Marty graduated from the University of Calgary in 1979 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree. He commenced his articles with a national accounting firm before qualifying as a chartered accountant in 1982. Marty joined Buchanan Barry LLP in 1985, entered the Leadership Group as Partner in 1993 and was appointed Managing Partner in 2013. Marty is responsible for providing audit and assurance, accounting, tax and advisory services to clients in a wide variety of industries. Marty’s practice focuses particularly on owner-managed private businesses and burgeoning public companies.

Vern F. Varga, CA

Vern is a graduate of the University of Calgary and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree. He completed his articles with Buchanan Barry LLP and obtained his designation as chartered accountant in 1999.  Vern joined the firm’s Leadership Group as Partner in 2001.  Vern is responsible for providing accounting, tax and advisory services to owner-managed businesses.  Vern is also responsible for overseeing Buchanan Barry LLP's information technology services.

Tammy R. Lemmon, CA

Tammy graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in 1996. She qualified as a chartered accountant in 1999 and completed the CICA In-depth Tax program in 2002.  Tammy joined Buchanan Barry LLP in 1996 and the Leadership Group as Partner in 2007.  Tammy provides audit and assurance, accounting, tax and advisory services for a wide range of private and non-profit organizations.

Benjamin W. A. Spademan, CA

Ben graduated from the University of Saskatchewan in 1999 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree and began employment with Buchanan Barry LLP that same year.  He successfully wrote the 2000 UFE and obtained his chartered accountant designation in 2002, completed the CICA In-Depth Tax program in 2003 and completed the CICA In-Depth GAAP program in 2007.  Ben joined the Leadership Group as Partner in 2008.    Ben's primary focus is working with owner-managed businesses by providing assurance and non-assurance services to owner-managed businesses, working closely with them to run their businesses effectively. Ben also has audit experience including public and private companies as well as not-for-profit organizations.

Mark R. Rintoul, MBA, LL.M

Mark has a Bachelor of Arts from McGill University, a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and a Master of Laws (LL.M) in taxation, both from the Université de Montréal. Prior to joining Buchanan Barry in 2007, Mark practiced taxation with two national accounting firms. Mark joined the Leadership Group as Partner* in 2011. Mark is a member of the Canadian Tax Foundation and leads the firm's tax practice.
