Buchanan Barry LLP recognizes that your work is not your life. Here are some of the ways we ensure that your work and life do not compete with each other:
FLEXIBLE WORK HOURS
There is no need to synchronize your alarm clock. Our core office hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. You can choose when your work day begins and when it ends, provided you’re around during our core office hours.
SHORTENED WORK DAY
Our standard work day is 7.5 hours from July 1 through December 31 and 8 hours from January 1 through June 30.
Because you have things to do and people to see, we offer flex days that may be used from July through December. You can use these days to take your pet to the vet or your clubs to the course – anything, the time is yours. You can also break these days down, using a half-day here and a full day there. The choice is yours, except for the day after our Tax Party. (Some restrictions apply.)
ADDITIONAL TIME OFF
In addition to vacation, flex days, compassionate/bereavement leave, Buchanan Barry LLP provides additional time off to new parents following the birth or adoption of a child. The firm also encourages its people to take a day off to enjoy the most Calgarian of experiences – the Stampede!
We encourage active living in whatever form that may take. Buchanan Barry has onsite fitness facilities, including squash courts, but if you have a gym you prefer, the firm will subsidize a portion of your membership. If the gym isn’t your style, but you have your eye on a new set of skis, we will subsidize that. (Some restrictions apply.)
Our dress code and environment reflect 21st century values and lifestyles. We recognize that business suits aren’t necessarily the hallmark of a consummate professional. We insist our people look presentable and professional, and that they dress in a way that makes them, their colleagues and our clients comfortable.
